Born in South Charleston, on November 10, 1920. Alumnus, West Virginia University, BSChE, 1944; MSChE, 1947, U.S. Navy 1944-45, Lt. USNR. Instructor, West Virginia University, chemical engineering 1946-48. Member, Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Xi, Phi Lambda Upsilon and Sigma Gamma Epsilon.
Joined engineering department at Union Carbide Corporation in 1948, South Charleston. Appointed chairman, UCC Engineering Liaison Program and coordinator, Midwest College Recruiting 1955.
Appointed manager, Tech Center General Services 1958; manager, Investment Recovery 1964; and director, General Services UCC Headquarters 1974. Retired December 1982, Danbury, Connecticut. Now a resident of Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Activities included president, South Charleston Chamber of Commerce; chairman, United Way Campaign in Kanawha Valley; chairman, Administrative Board, First United Methodist Church; director, Fifth Avenue Association, New York, New York; trustee, Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church; member, AIChE, API, NFPA, Regional Plan Association of New York Chamber of Commerce and Industry, City Club of New York, Westchester County Association, Canadian Club and Metropolitan Club of New York WVU Dean's Visiting Committee, 1978-86.
Married 1950 to former Margaret Callison. Two sons, Walter L. and David W., both graduates of the College of Engineering at WVU.
