Sam Kasley is a native of Wheeling who graduated from Triadelphia High School. After graduation from WVU in chemical engineering in 1961, he entered graduate school at Clemson University, earning both an MS and PhD degrees in chemical engineering.

He joined the Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan, in 1966, and worked in process development research and process research management for six years. He then moved into production, holding positions as project superintendent, project manager, plant superintendent and production manager.

Kasley left Dow in 1990 to become the first employee and first plant manager for the Waste Technologies Industries hazardous waste incineration facility in East Liverpool, Ohio, with responsibility for hiring and training the staff and starting up operations.

In 1992, he joined Ecova Corporation, an environmental subsidiary of Amoco Corporation, in Golden, Colorado, as vice president of operations. In 1993 he was named vice president of the treatment service division.

In 1995, Kasley became the program director of Johnston Atoll Chemical Agent Destruction System with a major operation on Johnston Island (800 miles SW of Hawaii) and offices in Honolulu, Hawaii, Denver, Colorado and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Kasley is married to Doris (Walters) of Weirton, a WVU graduate. They have three children, all graduates of Michigan State University. The Kasley's have a home in Golden, Colorado.
