Vice President-General Site Manager — Bayer Corporation
Born and raised in Wheeling, Ron Staib graduated from West Virginia University with a BS in chemical engineering in 1969. While at the University, he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, Phi Lambda Upsilon and Omega Epsilon Honoraries.
Upon graduation from WVU, Staib joined Mobay Corporation in New Martinsville, working as a process engineer. He has been with Mobay, now Bayer Corporation, for 34 years.
During his Bayer career, he has held positions such as project engineer, head of site environmental/safety, maintenance and engineering, corporate responsibility for project engineering (Chemical Division) and leader for the corporate quality improvement process. In 1994 Staib was appointed plant manager at New Martinsville, where he held the position for seven years. He currently is vice president-site manager at the 2,500-employee U.S. corporate headquarters site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He has been active in several boards, serving as vice-chairman of the West Virginia Manufacturing Association and board of directors for the West Virginia State Chamber of Commerce. Staib currently sits on the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber Executive Committee. Staib and his wife, Jan, reside in Wheeling, and have three daughters ages 29, 24 and 21. Their youngest is currently finishing her junior year at WVU.
