Patrick A. Wright was born on July 22, 1921 at Alma. He attended primary and secondary school grades 5 through 12 at Sistersville.

Wright moved to Clarksburg, in 1939 and started to West Virginia University in September of that year. Fields of study: chemical engineering and geology.

From September 1939 through December 1942, he completed four years of basic and advanced ROTC and in February 1943 was ordered to Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, to attend Officer Candidate School.

Spent several years in the Army, being discharged as a major in the Corps of Engineers.

Wright returned to West Virginia University after his army service and graduated as a chemical engineering in 1948.

His first and only job was with Hope Natural Gas Company (now Hope Gas, Inc.) where he filled a number of positions from construction and engineering to president, retiring in July 1986 after 38 years of service.

He has been active in his community, holding many offices in the various civic organizations, Country Club, and his church.

He served as interim City Manager in Clarksburg for three months in late 1986 and early 1987.

His wife is the former JoAnn Ward from Peel Tree, and they have three grown children.
