Lisa is a professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. She is also affiliated with the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences in the School of Medicine, the Clinical Translational Science Institute, and the Magee-Womens Research Institute. With over 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical product development, including several years in the pharmaceutical industry, her current research focuses on the areas of infectious diseases and global health needs. Her laboratory is dedicated to “transforming global health through pharmaceutical innovation,” and her team has successfully developed over 50 pharmaceutical products, with 12 of them translated from the bench to the clinic.

Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from West Virginia University and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, where she also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Mucosal Immunology. In addition to her research, Lisa is passionate about mentoring and has trained over 100 trainees. She is also a co-founder of PDS Biotechnology, an immunotherapy company that focuses on cancer and infectious disease.

Lisa is a proud mother of two sons, Tyler and Garret, and she and her husband Howard currently reside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
