G. Thomas Harrick, as senior vice president, polyurethanes, directed all commercial activities of the polyurethane business to include sales, product management, market development, applications development, technical service and advertising.

Harrick, born in Montgomery, graduated from West Virginia University in 1960 with a bachelor of science in chemical engineering, and from Purdue University in 1961 with a master of science in industrial management. He then joined Mobay Chemical Company, at that time a joint venture between Monsanto and Bayer. A two-year tour of duty interrupted his service with Mobay.

Various marketing assignments led to Harrick’s appointment as vice president and general manager of the coatings division of Mobay in1984. In 1991, he became senior vice president, polyurethanes, polymers division, Bayer Corporation (formerly Mobay).

Harrick is a past chairman of the steering committee of the Society of the Plastics Industry’s polyurethane division; and former president of the WVU Chemical Engineering Academy. He has been active in fundraising for Deerfield Academy (Deerfield, Massachusetts), Purdue University, Pittsburgh Symphony and United Way. Previously, Harrick served as a member of the board of directors for the National Paint & Coatings Association.

Harrick’s father, the late Steve Harrick, a graduate of WVU, served the University as head baseball and wrestling coach from 1947-67. Harrick is married to the former Kathleen Herndon of Akron, Ohio. They have three sons: Stephen, Gregory and Christopher.
