Glen H. Hiner has been chairman and chief executive officer of Owens Corning since January 1992. During the past six years, he has established and begun implementing a vision for the company that is focused on global growth.

While focusing on customer satisfaction, individual dignity and shareholder value, the company and its people have introduced new products and built new manufacturing facilities around the world. Acquisitions during the past six years total 17.

Beginning in 1996, the company launched its System Thinking® business strategy to drive sales by shifting its focus from individual products to system-driven solutions. The company has also launched a major restructuring initiative to leverage the value of its growth to the company’s bottom line.

Hiner joined Owens Corning following a 35-year career with the General Electric Company. A native of Morgantown, Hiner holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from West Virginia University and received an honorary doctorate in science from his alma mater in 1989. The Society of the Plastics Industry bestowed its highest honor, the Dan Fox Lifetime Achievement Award, on Hiner in 1994. Hiner also received an honorary doctorate in humane letters from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1997.

Hiner serves as a member of the board of directors for both The Dana Corporation and The Prudential Insurance Company of America. He is also the chairman of the board of trustees for the Toledo Symphony.
